United Pawnshop is a family owned and operated pawn shop that has been serving the people of Chicagoland since 1911 and in this location since 1937 and is one of the oldest families in the pawn and gold buying business. We have built our business and reputation on always treating the customer with fairness, integrity, honesty and respect.  With over 100 years in the business spanning 4 generations, you can rest assured that you will receive the best offer for your items, and will get the best deal around on any items you purchase.   

Our family has a long history in the pawnbroker business. Our great-grandfather obtained the first pawnbroker's license granted by the City of Chicago in 1918, although his shop had been in business since the 1890's. His son, our grandfather, opened United Loan Co Pawnshop here in the same location that we still exist in 1937. We are the fourth generation to run the family business. It is important for us to create a very warm and personable environment for our customers to conduct business. We believe it is important to conduct business with integrity and with great respect for the customer.

Meet the Managers

Dan and Liz (AKA Shelly)

Dan and his sister Liz are the fourth generation of the family to run the pawnshop. Ma, (as many customers refer to their mother), still comes down on occasion, but in her mid 80's, she focuses on the bookkeeping at home.  You will always be greeted with a smile at United Pawnshop. We are just a small family business and we try to give every customer that personal touch. Dan is a mild mannered guy who is known for his fairness, knowledge of gold and diamonds, along with his willingness to explain things in detail.   Liz loves to hear all the news from customers and has been blessed to know multiple generations of a family.  Having grown up in the business, they have knowledge of gold, diamonds, watches and electronics that is extensive.
